Sparacino’s Italian Salsa Label Design
Wow, Sparacino’s Italian Salsa is a truly unique and delicious entry into the crowded salsa market. As a country, we love salsa. American’s spend more money on salsa than on ketchup. So that’s a lot of salsa.
When John Sparacino came to me with his new Italian Salsa product I said “you mean like a bruschetta?” He said no, it’s salsa, you just need to try it yourself to understand. So he sent me several tubs of different flavors and I was instantly hooked. It’s not a bruschetta – though with some olive oil it does a fine job of that as well – it’s Italian Salsa and it’s insanely delicious.
John was a fan of my character based label design and wanted to go with a chef mascot approach, which makes a lot of sense with a product that has a proper possessive name in the title. He was also going to market it in a standard 14oz tub and a larger 48oz Costco size. And yes, I personally ate them all. Most of the time I would just get a spoon and eat it straight out of the tub. So refreshing.
He was also going to market two classic recipes in mild , medium and hot as well as lemon cucumber, roasted garlic and a few fruit flavors. We decided to express the flavors using a simple banner and making modifications to glorious plate of ingredients being held by the chef character.
Being an brand new concept, I thought we should reserves some label space for a quick introduction paragraph. So I wrote some copy for that. John had some serving suggestions to he’d written to round out the back of the label.
Look for it in stores soon.
