Devotion Nutrition Protein Powder Shrink Sleeve Design
Oh my is this protein powder is good! There, just had to get that out of the way. Developed by co-founders Gina Aliotti and Dana Kaye to work especially well with baking, blending , and ice cream, Devotion Protein is arguably the richest, creamiest and easiest mixing protein powder on the market. Designed to work exceptionally well with their their line of sugar free Flex Flavors it comes in both original (sucralose) and stevia blends.
So what about the packaging? Gina and Dana came to me with a fantastic product and a clear vision for their brand. Edgy and artsy, Devotion Nutrition is a lifestyle brand backed by hard science. And since most protein powders on the market are hyper masculine I encouraged the founders to embrace their feminine aesthetics. We really don’t need yet another black labeled tub of protein powder with chrome block lettering. Nothing wrong with that approach, just not the right approach for Devotion Nutrition.
Inspired by tattoo art we intentionally pushed the envelope with the assumption that their target audience (people just like themselves) would embrace the aesthetics of the brand and versatility and pure deliciousness of the product itself.
“Mixes smooth with just as spoon” is not just a tagline I wrote, it’s the truth. Same with “Ignite Your Passion”. Not just a great tagline but pretty accurate worldview of the founders.
Originally we developed single serving packets for live product demos, but the demand from customers quickly told us that they wanted to buy them as a way to test the product before committing to a whole two pound tub. So we added variety sample packs to the web to test drive flavors.
A with most packaging projects, I made sure to coordinate with the printer and the copacker. The reason is, every copacker will have specific requirements on how they like their shrink sleeves or labels to be delivered. Usually on a roll, with a specified orientation and layout and with a defined cut width. Deliver the printed material in the wrong format and you’re out of luck. So never, never, and I mean never, print rolls of shrink sleeve film, wrappers or sachets without consulting with the copacker.
